What it is

Alpha-GPC (L-Alpha glycerylphosphorylcholine) is a choline compound. Choline is an essential nutrient the body uses, among other things, to synthesize acetylcholine — a neurotransmitter heavily involved in learning, memory formation, and attention.

Why this specific form

Not all choline sources are equal in how efficiently they reach the brain. Alpha-GPC is among the more bioavailable forms and crosses the blood-brain barrier more readily than basic choline salts, which is why it appears in nootropic formulas rather than cheaper choline sources.

Alpha-GPC has been studied for cognitive function, with more of the research conducted in populations with existing cognitive impairment than in healthy adults.
