Ginkgo has been through something most supplements never face: large, multi-year, government-funded trials testing whether it prevents cognitive decline or dementia in older adults. What that does and doesn't mean

It means Ginkgo shouldn't be taken as dementia prevention — that specific claim has been tested and not supported.
